A student relations officer (SRO) is in charge of this unit and is responsible to the Dean through the SAO. The SRO oversees hostel sanitation and landscape, liaises with the works and maintenance department for hostel repairs or maintenance. Enforces all rules and regulations governing hostel accommodation, oversees such students’ activities as meeting and publication and so on. The SRO also liaises with hall masters, hall officers and students’ representatives on all matters affecting students’ accommodation, including number of rooms and bed spaces available, names, gender, contact addresses and room numbers and other characteristics and peculiarities of students in the halls of residence. It is the SRO’s duty to oversee hostel allocation and in addition, he reports to the Dean, through the Students’ Affairs Officer, on all matters relating to student relations, including clubs and societies.
